I am so excited to present to you the model who will be gracing the cover of DIE FOR ME: the face of Kate, Michelle Cartwright.
Back last summer, my editor, Tara, told me that she was going to send me some photos of models that they thought would be appropriate for my book cover. A few days later she sent me one photo, saying that HarperCollins’s art department liked her so much that they didn’t want to look any further. Tara asked me what I thought. I took one look and responded immediately: “Please tell whoever chose her that they were reading my mind. She’s perfect.”
Since the photo shoot, Michelle and I got in touch and I learned that she is eighteen, is from New York, and is with APM Model Management. Her star is quickly rising, and I’m glad we get to use her as book-cover-Kate before her face becomes instantly recognizable elsewhere.
You’ll be seeing Michelle again as soon as I do my cover reveal. (Tweaks are still happening at this point, so it won’t be right away.) And then, hopefully you’ll see her again the next time I go to New York — we plan to meet for tea and take an author-character photo just for fun!
Et voila, Michelle Cartwright, the face of Kate Beaumont Mercier, a.k.a. the heroine of DIE FOR ME.

Now, will she be on the cover as a photo, or will she be the model for an illustration that is put on the cover?
I love the new style of the website here, making it much easier to read 🙂

Michelle is beautiful. Her eyes are captivating. If you look at her and the title of the book. Who wouldn’t want to find out more about her story?!?!

Judith: the trend for Young Adult books sold in America (especially the sub-genre “paranormal romance”) is to use photography on the cover, and often having a model represent the main character. (See the graphic heading here: http://www.yareads.com/tag/ya-paranormal-fiction).
So Michelle had a 5-hour photoshoot in a studio in NYC dressed in a beautiful formal gown and sitting in a… ooh – I can’t tell you! But I will be able to show you in a few weeks!

my heart is filled with sheer excitement over these photos that you’ve taken throughout Paris. My husband & I feel grateful to be living here when the book is released so we can read, walk & discover! Can you believe I have him entwined in this story….. the photos purely captured his attention. Not to mention the gorgeous photo of Kate.

Lisa Marie, thank you for your enthusiasm – and I’m flattered that your husband is interested too!
Thanks, Lea – I hope it’s coming soon!

I didn’t see this before, and after reading the book she is exactly how I imagined! If there is going to be a film I’m sure she would make a great kate 😀
