It Gets Better

I made a video yesterday concerning a topic that means a lot to me. I was going to try to paraphrase it for the blog, or to even write an explanatory note, but I think the best is to let the video speak for itself. If you know anyone who you think this message would help, please do pass it on.
Hugs to you all,
Amy

Speaking as someone who was also bullied growing up – not at home but at school – I can understand what you mean. My bullying came from not fitting the status quo, not accepting that my envrionment had to decide my abilities. I was too smart, spoke too well and how dare I actually like getting an education and reading.

You are right. It does get better. Very sad there are young adults taking their lives because things are hard in the moment – sometimes a long moment. But it does get better.

I am not aware of anyone right now contemplating suicide, though that could change, but this is a wonderful video and I applaud you for sharing this.

    Amy,
A very considerate, brave statement to make. Danielle and I appreciate it – especially the part about a young person’s world ‘feeling’ small now, together with the fact that there’s a huge world out there youngsters will soon discover.

    It will get better!

Angela – just saw your comment now. I’m glad you had the courage not to dumb yourself down in order to be accepted. It’s pitiful that talent and smarts intimidates the masses in high school. Thank you for your note!

And Shaun, I’m glad you and Danielle appreciated the video. And I am glad that you agree with my sentiments. Hugs to both of you!
