About Amy

Author Amy Plum in Paris 2026

Amy Plum is the international bestselling author of young adult fiction. Her books have been translated into thirteen languages. She has written supernatural romance (the Die For Me series), action-adventure faux-post-apocalyptic road trip (the After the End duology), and psychological thriller (the DREAMFALL duology).

After being raised in Birmingham, Alabama, in a rather restrictive environment, AMY PLUM escaped to Chicago to an even more restrictive environment at a university that expelled people for dancing. (And where she was called to the dean’s office for “wearing too much black”.) After all of that restrictiveness, she was forced to run far away, specifically to Paris, France, where she wore only black and danced all she wanted. (Those juicy details are in her book THE ART OF COMING UNDONE, which is in the midst of finding a publisher.)

After five years in Paris, she ventured to London, where she got an M.A. in Medieval Art History, a degree that offered almost no hope of finding a paying job afterward. To everyone’s surprise, including her own, she managed to find work in the art world in New York. After eight years of working multiple jobs at once, and a frankly ridiculous amount of partying, she decided to settle down and attempt adulthood.

So, naturally, she got pregnant and moved to the French countryside.

The rosy glow of a Loire Valley idyll soon revealed itself to be a rather lonely life amongst farmers who didn’t particularly like foreigners. Amy decided that adulting sucked. To cheer herself up, she started a blog about the amusing—and sometimes horrifying—realities of country life. It quickly took off.

After six years of posting every day, she turned her Loire Valley experiences into a book. Fortunately, that one never saw the light of day. Her next book, however, was DIE FOR ME, published by HarperCollins and quickly sold to foreign language markets around the world.

After several more books, Amy finally left the Loire Valley for the city of her heart: Paris. She now lives there with her two university-student children and spends her non-writing hours indulging her art historical obsession by giving tours of the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay as Madame des Musées.

Amy loves dogs, her book club, taxidermy, riding her bike through Paris, visiting museums, and traveling in search of even more art. She is also passionate about neurodiversity and the wonderfully complicated ways that ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and all of the other “dys-es” make her, her children, and her family (and most of her friends) so exceptional at the things they love to do.

Decorative decorative twist.
